A new release for the summer of 2025, Dolphin Dance From Herbie Hancock’s 1965 album “Maiden Voyage” has been carefully arranged by Jim Fieldhouse for advanced saxophone quartets. The shifting harmonies and extended chords are outlined through a series of interwoven lines, while the melody passes between members of the group. There is solo space for either tenor sax or alto (or both if you observe the optional repeated section) and a short shout chorus before the tune returns. Tricky to get together but worth the effort!
